Where venues are in Region VI, and getting there

Western Visayas centers on Panay Island and includes Negros Occidental across the Guimaras Strait plus the small island province of Guimaras. Iloilo City is the regional hub with much of the testing capacity, while Guimaras and the island municipalities require a short sea crossing, and Negros Occidental applicants may be assigned to a Bacolod-area venue rather than crossing to Panay.

The Civil Service Commission doesn't publish a fixed list of Region VI venues — sites rotate between administrations depending on capacity and the schools available, and the exact venue and room are printed on each applicant's Examination Permit. When you register online you choose this region; the Commission then assigns your specific site, which may not be the city nearest your home. Your permit is the only authoritative source, so check it the moment it's issued.

Slots & registration

Iloilo City and Bacolod both carry substantial demand; confirm whether your permit places you on Panay or in Negros so you can plan the crossing if needed, and register early.

Weather to plan around

The region catches both the southwest monsoon and Visayan-Sea typhoons; ferry crossings to Guimaras and between Panay and Negros are weather-sensitive, so allow extra time during the rainy season.

Notes for Region VI examinees

  • Iloilo City is the regional hub and hosts much of the testing capacity in Western Visayas.
  • Guimaras and island municipalities require sea travel; plan ferry timing around the gate cutoff.
  • Negros Occidental, with Bacolod, also has substantial demand, so confirm whether your permit assigns you to Iloilo or a Negros venue.

Region VI testing — common questions

Will Negros Occidental applicants test in Iloilo or Bacolod?

It depends on your CSC assignment. Negros Occidental has its own testing capacity around Bacolod, but some assignments may place you on Panay near Iloilo City. Your Examination Permit names the venue, so check it early so you can plan the strait crossing if needed.
